This page enables the users to create product chains to allow inheritance of historical demand trends from other products.

Use the context selector at the top-right to select a product. Additionally, you can manually enter the required value using the search function.

Use the Product Filter field to filter on a specific product.

The history is inherited for complete weeks only.

Use the Edit Items table to edit, delete, enable, or disable existing product chains. Chains are created and managed at the product level, but all calculations are performed at the product and customer level.

ParametersValues
To ProductThe product that inherits the demand trend.
From ProductThe product from which the demand trend is inherited.
Start DateThe initial date from which the demand trend is inherited.
End DateThe final date to which the demand trend inheritance will run. If left blank, the end date will default to the end date specified in the 900 – Global Parameters page.
Inheritance (%)

Sets the demand ratio of the From Product to be inherited by the To Product.

The demand can be divided into many products. The total value of the expected values can be more than 100% to help you plan for an increase in demand.

Deplete Source?

Select to have the To Product assume the demand from the From Product value.

Leave unselected to keep the demand in From Product. This confirms the demand in To Product and is treated as additional demand rather than substitution demand.

Depletion (%)

Sets a depletion percentage. This value determines the proportion of the From Product demand to be reduced because of chaining demand to the two products.

The column is color-coded red, green, or amber.

Effective?Select to enable demand inheritance.
Delete?

Select to delete a product chain. The selected chain is deleted after the next system refresh.

Items marked for deletion will be marked as Ineffective for calculation purposes and will be removed by a mass deletion process.

You can use the spare rows in the Edit Items table to create new product chains. In case the spare rows are unavailable, create new using the process on 904 – Lists – Create Empty Placeholders.

To create a new product chain:

  1. Select a spare row item.
  2. Select the parent product for the new chain from the From Product dropdown.
The field is highlighted in pink to notify you that the record is available to complete the additional settings.

Select a Time View Settings to focus on a specific timeframe.

  • Rolling Year: Always shows the current period as a minimum.

The Inheritance by Source Graph displays the demand of the 'From Product' to be inherited by the 'To Product'.

The Product Chaining Impact Graph displays the product chaining impact on the 'To Product'. The context selector at bottom of the graph displays the selected product.

Note: Use legends to view information for any week. Select a legend to show its details in the chart. Hover the cursor over a chart legend to display the legend's values in the chart. Hover the cursor over the data curve to display the data point values.

The Product Chaining Audit Table displays the product chaining impact on the 'To Product' weekly.

ParametersValues
Selected History (U)The actual shipment history for the ‘to product’.
Selected History (R)The actual shipment revenue history for the ‘to product’.
Depleted History (U)If depletion is selected in the parameters, then this shows the values that are depleted from the 'from product'.
Inherited History (U)This value is the inherited history driven from thefrom product’.
Chained History (U)The sum of Selected History (U) and Inherited History (U).

If you want to keep a record of the product chain, select the Effective option to leave the chain record in place and disable its impact.

Usually, you want to deplete 100% of the From Product. Otherwise, you are at risk of inflating historical volumes. There may be edge cases where this may not be true. For example, a 36-count pack is added to a 72-count pack. You thought 50% of the volumes would move to the 36-count pack. Then, you would inherit 100% and deplete 50%.
