Add or delete a promotion item
Before you start
The page provides a context selector that enables you to select the product and customer. There are options for all levels of customer hierarchy, but you must select a customer account as promotion plans are specific to a customer. Select a customer from the list at the top right of the page, or manually enter the required value with the search function.
Steps
To add a promotion item:
- Select a promotion header in the Promotions card.
- Select Add Promo Item.
- Confirm the Parent displays the correct promotion header and select Submit.
To delete a promotion item:
- Select a Delete checkbox in the Manage Promotion Items card. The cell is highlighted red.
- Select Delete Promo Items. A progress dialog displays and closes once the deletion completes.
Add products to a promotion item
Before you start
Add a promotion item (see above).
Once the promotion item is added, you must add a product.
Parameters
Parameter | Value |
Product | Select a product item to include in the promotion. |
Curve Override | Allows you to specify a different promo curve to override the existing curve. |
Effective Curve | Displays the effective curve on which the promotion is managed, confirming the selection made either in the promotion header or in the curve override. |
Effective Uplift Type | Displays the uplift curve type for the promotion. |
Days on Deal | Displays the number of days on deal, derived from the promotion header record. |
Curve Length | Displays the curve length in days. |
Overlapping Promos | Specify if overlapping promotions for the same product and customer combinations are highlighted. If overlapping promos achieve a redemption rate greater than 100%, an alert displays. Overlapping promos are flagged when Fixed Price or Discount promos occur on the same day as any other promotion. |
Cannibalization Over 100% | Select if overlapping promotions for the same product and customer combination that achieve a cannibalization greater than 100% are highlighted. Cannibalization occurs when promo curves are over 100% cannibalization on any day. |
Update Promo Base Required | If selected, the effective promotion plan is confirmed and pulls in data from the commercial plan. You can then review the promotion's impact using the tables and charts below. |
Effective | If selected, the promotion plan header displays in the Commercial Plan. |
Manage Product Pricing
Before you start
Add a promotion item and add a product to it (see above).
Once the promotion item product is added, you must add the product's pricing.
Parameters

Day 1 Commercial Price (R/U) | Displays the current commercial price on the promotion plan schedule's first day before promotional a discount or fixed price is applied. |
Promotion Mechanic | Select the price basis on which the promotion plan is managed:

Effective Redemption Rate (%) | Displays a value of 100% unless a Redemption Rate % is specified, in which case that value displays. |
Gondola End (R) | Specify any gondola end costs to the promotion plan. |
Packaging Design (R) | Specify any packaging design costs to the promotion plan. |
Other Costs (R) | Specify any other costs to the promotion plan. |
Total Costs (R) | Displays the total of the Gondola End (R), Packaging Design (R), and Other Costs (R) values. |
Promotion ROI Output

The Review ROI Output section displays a summary of the promotion item.

Base Commercial Plan (U) | Displays the Default Commercial Plan or Commercial Plan Override value specified in Commercial Planning. |
Base Commercial Price (R/U) | Displays the Base Commercial Plan (R) value divided by the Base Commercial Plan (U) value specified in Commercial Planning. |
Base Commercial Plan (R) | Displays the Base Commercial Plan (U) value multiplied by the Forecast Base Commercial Price (R/U) value specified in Commercial Planning. |
Base Contribution (R) | Displays the base contribution value. The value always shows 100% because the application does not hold product cost values. |
Base Contribution Margin (%) | Displays the base contribution margin value. The value always shows 100% because the application does not hold product cost values. |
Unit Uplift (%) | Displays the unit promotion uplift calculated as a percentage of the base plan. |
New Commercial Plan (U) | Displays the sum of base and promotion plan quantities. |
New Commercial Plan (R/U) | Displays the commercial price calculated by dividing the Final Commercial Plan (R) value by the Final Commercial Plan (U) value specified in Commercial Planning. |
New Commercial Plan (R) | Displays the new commercial plan value calculated by adding the Total Volume at Base Price (R) and Promotional Impact (R) values specified in Commercial Planning. |
Net Revenue Change (R) | Displays the variance between the Base Commercial Plan (R) and New Commercial Plan (R) values. |
New Contribution (R) | Displays the new contribution margin value, but as the application does not hold product cost values the New Commercial Plan (R) value displays. |
New Contribution Margin (%) | Displays the Net Contribution (R) value as a percentage of the Base Commercial Plan, but as the application does not hold product cost values it always displays a value of 100%. |
Promo Costs (R) | Displays the value Total Costs value in the Pricing Management panel. |
Promo Net Margin Impact (R) | Displays the net margin after deduction of promotion plan costs, calculated from the Net Revenue Change (R) value minus the Promo Costs (R) value. |
Promo ROI on Cost Spend (%) | Displays the percentage POI calculated from the Promo Net Margin Impact (R) value divided by the Promo Costs (R) value. |
Manage Promotional Uplift
Before you start
Add a promotion item, add a product, and product pricing to it (see above).
Review a promotion's uplift in the Manage Promotion Uplift chart and table.
Parameters

Library Curve Name | Displays the curve name selected for the promotion plan. |
Library Curve (%) | Displays the percentage uplift value by period. |
Curve Override (%) | Allows you to enter an override percentage value. The total of the percentage values sum rebalances to 100%. |
Final Curve (%) | Displays the curve percentage values after override values are entered. |
Promotion Simulation
The Promotion Simulation Units and Promotion Simulation Revenue charts display the simulated promotion plan uplift in both unit and revenue terms. The charts enable comparison of the original commercial plan with the promotion-uplifted commercial plan.

Promotions Daily Analysis
The Promotions Daily Analysis card provides additional data values to the charts to further support analysis as detailed below:

Weekday | Displays a number for each day of the week, starting with Monday (1) and ending in Sunday (7). |
Daily Base Commercial Plan (U) | Displays the promotion plan's quantity value in Commercial Planning. |
Daily Base Commercial Price (R/U) | Displays the promotion plan's revenue calculated from the Daily Base Commercial Price (R/U) value multiplied by the Daily New Commercial Plan (R) value. |
Daily Base Commercial Plan (R) | Displays the promotion plan's revenue value in Commercial Planning. |
Daily Promotional Impact (U) | Displays the daily uplift to the commercial resulting from the promotion plan. |
Daily New Commercial Plan (U) | Displays the sum of the base and promotion plan quantity values. |
