This page enables you to specify effectivity at the product level, from a range of options, and provides a visual display for demand of selected history, overlaid with effectivity.

Before using this page, review:

  • D1020 – Product Chaining
  • D1061 – Manage Effectivity Dates

Choose which product to display data for on the page from the context selector in the top right of the page. You can also enter a product reference ID to select a product.

An admin can manage these parameters, at a global level, in D1000 - Global Demand Parameters.

Effective Parameters are values that are currently set. Edit Parameters allows you to enter new values for the same parameters. When you enter a value, it becomes an effective parameter.

Product Effective Basis

Set the product effective basis to determine the initial date of product effectivity to display data for:

  • Full History: This system considers all historical periods within the model calendar. For example, if the model calendar is set to provide 2 years of demand history, then this parameter sets effectivity to start from the first period. Full history considers periods which may not be aligned to the actual product introduction period.
  • First Non-Zero Value: Effectivity is determined by the first transaction date given in shipment history
  • Product Start Date: Effectivity is determined by the product introduction date contained in the product data. The option isn't available if the data is missing.

The product sets the effectivity parameters.

Product effectivity is calculated at the product-customer level, that affects the history fed to stat forecasting and the Best Fit Method forecast.

Product start dates are only honored if the policy 3. Product Start Date is selected.

If a product start date isn't available in product data, set the parameter to First Non-Zero Value.

Product discontinued dates are honored in all policies.

Use the Product Effectivity Graph and its table to interpret the demand for a product within its effective period.

The graph displays:

  • Effective Window: Shown as a yellow box in the chart to display the effective periods according to the specified effective basis.
  • Selected History: The selected history in units.

The table displays the matching periods and the demand for the product in units.
