Add raw materials and define the products consumed by a given process. Set time-based overrides for the raw materials.

In 125 - Input Process BOM data you configure the overall bill of materials (BOM) of your manufacturing processes, including the overall input and output of raw materials. You can also set overrides for specific time periods.

The production planning model must be setup by a Workspace Administrator. This model should already include raw materials to be used on this page. If not, manually create raw materials and resources.

Raw materials represent materials that are consumed in your manufacturing process. To create a new raw material:

  1. On the left hand side, select the Add a new raw material action button.
  2. In the dialog enter a Name, select a parent category, enter a shortform Code for your raw material, then select Submit.
  3. On the left side of the page, select the Process Master Data Changes button to apply the changes. This commits your changes to the system.

For each manufacturing process, you must set up its BOM. The BOM lists the number of manufactured products and raw materials that are inputs or outputs of a manufacturing process. Inputs are listed as negative numbers. Outputs are listed as positive ones.

To set up a BOM for a process:

  1. In the Setup BOM grid, find the process for which you want to set up a BOM.
  2. Each manufacturing process contains products, both as inputs and outputs:
    • For products / components consumed in the manufacturing process, enter a negative number.
    • For final products created by the manufacturing process, enter a positive number.
  3. On the left side of the page, select Process Master Data Changes to apply the changes. This commits your changes to the system.
  4. Repeat this setup for all manufacturing processes.

Note: Changes apply to all scenarios. To make scenario-specific adjustments, setup alternate product versions.

Time-based overrides enable you to change the BOM during selected time periods. To override the BOM by time period:

  1. Use the context selector or select a BOM in the Setup BOM grid, to set which manufacturing process displays in the Make time based overrides grid.
  2. Find the raw material in the Make time based overrides grid.
  3. In the weekly calendar, locate the week(s) you want to override the BOM for.
  4. Select the Make time based override? checkbox.
  5. Enter an Override Value.
  6. On the left side of the page, select the Process Master Data Changes button to apply the changes. This commits your changes to the system.
  7. Repeat this process for any planned overrides of a BOM.
