Set the cycle times and resources required by each manufacturing process and set overrides over time.
In 120 - Input Process Cycle Time data you configure the overall runtimes of your manufacturing processes, including how long it takes to set up, and the manufacturing itself. You can also set overrides for specific time periods and define the batch size for each process.
Prerequisites
The production planning model must be set up by a workspace administrator. This model should already include processes and resources used on this page. If not, you must first manually create the processes and resources.
Resources represent equipment and tools that are used in your manufacturing process. To create a resource:
- On the left hand side, select the Add a new resource action button.
- In the dialog enter a Name and a shortform Code for your new resource, then select Submit.
- On the left side of the page, select the Process changes button to apply the changes. This commits your changes to the system.
Set up manufacturing process run time
Each process in manufacturing requires resources and time to complete its task. For each manufacturing process in your plan, you must set resources and their runtimes:
- Use the context selector to set which processes display on this page.
- Find the process you want to set up in the Set-up Process Run-time data grid.
- Enter a Cycle Time and a Setup Time for each resource used in that process.
- On the left side of the page, select Process master data changes to apply the changes. This commits your changes to the system.
Set the batch size for each process
Each manufacturing process will output one or more units of a product. Here, set the economical minimum batch size for the process. To set the batch size:
- In the Minimum Batch Size by Process grid, enter a Minimum Batch Size, for any process.
- On the left side of the page, select the Process master data changes button to apply the changes. This commits your changes to the system.
Set overrides for select time periods
Your processes can be affected by seasonality or varying market conditions. You can set overrides for your resources to factor in a lower manufacturing capacity. This can be due to planned maintenance, reduced or increased workforce capacity, or seasonality in demand.
To set overrides:
- Find the resource in the Override Process Run-time Data Over Time grid.
- In the time horizon, locate the period(s) for which you want to override the runtime.
- Select the Make time based override? checkbox.
- Enter an Override Value.
- Repeat this for any planned overrides of any process.
